Connect to the Mason Cluster via PuTTY
Certain tasks on the Mason Cluster require certain commands be executed on the command line. This tutorial describes how to connect to the server for this purpose.
- A Mason Cluster account
- A PuTTY SSH client
Connect to the Server
** If utilizing an FTP client not listed here, such as Cyberduck, ensure that encryption is SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol). **
Using PuTTY (Windows)
- Open up the PuTTY SSH Client.
- In the PuTTY Configuration dialog box, enter the host name as mason.gmu.edu, select the connection type as SSH and click open.
- If this is your first time connecting, you’ll probably get a few warning messages. Push OK to clear those.
- Enter your mason login ID(username) and password.
At this point, you should have a
mason> prompt and then you can go ahead with Fixing Server Upload Permissions.
